Non-regenerative anemia is a common condition in cats. Non-regenerative anemia in cats is a condition caused byinsufficient erythrocyte production or impaired erythropoiesis. Non-regenerative anemia occurs in cats of all ages , whichis characterized by a low number of erythrocytes in the blood and, as a result, a decrease in oxygen-carrying capacity. Theetiology of non-regenerative anemia in cats is a complex issue and includes a variety of conditions such as acute bloodloss, infectious diseases such as Feline leukemia virus (FeLV), Feline infectious peritonitis, and immune hemolyticanemia. It is usually associated with a variety of causes, such as iron deficiency, chronic diseases, toxin exposure, orgenetic factors. Symptoms include fatigue, pale gums, loss of appetite, and weakness. The diagnosis is made bylaboratory tests and a complete blood count. Treatment varies depending on the underlying cause and may include ironsupplements, blood transfusions, immunosuppressive agents, or specific drug therapies, primarily with the elimination ofthe underlying cause. Non-regenerative anemia is a very serious condition and requires timely intervention. Non-regenerative anemia in cats is an important issue in clinical practice and it is important for veterinarians to maintain theirknowledge and skills in this area.
